Minion Gloves

 

Since their introduction in the first Despicable Me movie they have become an icon of adorable loyalty and mischief, Gru’s cute little minions, naturally. To the experienced crochet artist, making a little minion hat is simple. Make your usually go to toboggan in yellow add a band of black near the top then add a goggled eye or two. Bam minion hat! I’m going to share with you the simplicity of the Minion Fingerless Mittens. You can make these into the traditional yellow minions with the blue overalls, the new purple Evil minion with black overalls and a fuzzy top or the now pink minions for your minion loving little princess. Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in Colonial 302 (Tulips 426) []

Plymouth Encore Worsted in Bright Yellow 1382 (Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Baby in Pink Poodle138) []

Lion Brand Jiffy in Black 153

Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in White 100

Grey Embroidery Thread

 

Pattern

Left Hand

Ch 13 with Blue (Tulip) []

Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook, sc in each chain. (12sc)

Row 2: Ch 1 Turn, sc in first  sc, 10 sc BLO (Back Loops Only), sc in both loops. (12 sc)

Row 3-25/27: {If you need to make it smaller or larger it’s not complicated, 27 rows fit your average woman’s hand} Repeat Row 2. On final Row sl st to Row 1 to form a tube of break off leaving enough yarn to whip stitch both ends together. Turn inside out to hide seam, it’s usually not necessary with the whipstitch, but you never know. Winking smile 

Join Yellow at the seam

Round 1: Ch 1 sc in same space, 10 sc, join blue sc in same space, carry the yellow under the blue work , sc 3 across, break off, begin again with yellow, sc evenly across sl st to first sc to join ends. You should end with 27 sc around.

Round 2-3: Ch 1 turn, continue as you did with Round 1,

Round 4-5: Ch 1 Turn, sc evenly around, sl st to first sc to join

Round 6: Ch 1 turn, *2 sc in same stitch, sc in next 4 st,repeat from * 5 more times, sc in last 2 st, sl st to first to join.

Round 7-11: Ch 1 turn, sc evenly around, sl st to frist st to join.

Round 12: Ch 1 turn, work 27 sc leaving the last 5 st unworked.

Round 13-14: Ch 1 turn, sc 27

Round 15: Join Black, sc in same st, 27 sc, st st to first sc to join

Round 16: Ch 1 turn, sc evenly across, sl st to first to join, break off.

Round 17- 19: Join yellow, sc in same st, sc evenly around, sl st to join break off and finish, weave in all end vertically as opposed to horizontally.

 

Right Glove

Round 1-11: Work the same as Left glove breaking off at the end of round 11.

Round 12: Turn sk 5 sts, rejoin yellow sc in same st, 27 sc evenly around.

Round  13-14: Ch 1 turn, sc evenly sl st to join

Round 15-19: Work same as Left Glove

Eye

make 2-4.(I like to make one a Cyclopes and one bi-optical)

With H hook and black yarn make a magic circle. Ch 2 counts as 1st sc, work 3 sc in magic circle, sl st to first sc to join break off.

Round 2: Join white, 2 sc in same st, 2 sc in each st all around (8sc) sl st to first to join.(Stop at round 2 for a Bi-optic Break off and finish) Leave ends long enough to sew to glove.

Round 3: *For Cyclopes only* Ch 1 2 sc in same st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in same st. repeat from * to end, sl st to first sc to join. Break off and finish.  Leave ends long enough to sew to glove.

Using D hook and grey embroidery thread

Join to eye FLO (front loops only) sc around, (8sc) sl st to first sc to join.

Round 2-3: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc evenly around. sl st to first sc to join, break off and finish weave in grey ends.

Using White and black ends sew to glove to make your favorite minion.

 

Using black yarn, embroider a mischievous little grin on your minions and enjoy!
