Today I’m going to introduce a pattern I “wrote” based on Stephenie Syjuco’s Counterfeit Crochet Project she began in 2006. I’m currently working on a Dior piece of my own, but was asked to recreate the original Chanel piece in a simpler patter form. Stephenie’s original “cheat sheets” are helpful for a more advanced crochet artist to understand and create, yet what do you do if you love this and want to make it but you prefer to follow a pattern. (This was the problem presented to me.) To remedy that I present to you, for your crocheting pleasure, and if you’re a knitter only gal or fella Stephenie’s “cheat sheets” will be helpful to you as well.
To begin you will want to go to www.counterfeitcrochet.org and look over the patterns and more section. Download/save/view the How to bootleg a Chanel Purse. You will need these for piecing together purse or you can wing it and make your own pattern.
I used a waffle pattern to get the “quilted” look and feel, if you’re winging it well you’ll have great ideas.

Materials
H Hook
Worsted weight yarn in black (or main color you prefer) This time around I used Hobby Lobby’s I love this yarn! in Black.
Worsted Weight Yarn in Pink (or Label color you prefer) I used Hobby Lobby’s I love this yarn! in Pink (I had just finished a strawberry purse for Aggie)
Tapestry Needle (I cannot stress this enough, they are much more durable than plastic yarn needles and cost the same. Trust me)
Thread or Embroidery Floss in Pink (I had some bobbin thread for an embroidery machine, it’s very strong and very fine so you really can’t see it, if you only have white thread don't’ sweat it just go with it.)

Sew on panel using embroidery floss or thread.
Now just follow Stephenie’s instructions on her bootleg pdf to piece it together and make the handle. On her bag she made grommets for the handle and stitched the two ends together. For mine, I wanted the weight of the purse to be on the side so I did a sc chain of about 40 inches and sewed it to each side. I will admit the grommets give a little something extra. This will be YOUR bag so do what you think you will be happy with.
